About this experience

The Tano/Kiyotake area in Miyazaki prefecture, where we farm, is an area where agriculture is very thriving, which is registered as a Japan Agricultural Heritage Site. Three farmers of the same age operate natural cultivation, domestic cacao, and pasture pig farming in such an area. While listening directly to the stories of each producer, it is an experience where you can go around the site and touch the background of agriculture and food through experiences. For lunch, we are also preparing a barbeque of free-range Japanese pork, freshly harvested vegetables, and chocolate bananas! Normally, I don't understand even if I just look at the product, “What kind of environment are they raised in?” “Why are we choosing this method?” “What challenges and ideas are there?” You can feel it at the actual production site. It is recommended for those interested in food and agriculture, those who want to get in touch with the thoughts of producers, and those looking for experiences unique to Miyazaki. *This listing is not about delivering food; it sells the right to have people actually come to the production site and experience it. *If you have any questions, please contact us from “Send a message to the producer” on the experience details page. ※Please feel free to contact us for other numbers. *We plan to accept up to 15 people per session. There are times when we get together with other customers. I would appreciate your understanding. For private use, please contact us. *The fee includes only the “trial participation fee and lunch fee”. +... + Experience content We will visit the 3 production sites that make up CapS. ① MIYAZAKI CACAO Cacao is rarely cultivated in Japan. CAPs

Miyazaki, Japan

[Right before eating.] “CAPs” was created by gathering three farms in Tano-cho and Kiyotake-cho in Miyazaki City, where Japan's agricultural heritage is located. Miyazaki Cacao (Cacao) is taking on the challenge of cultivating and processing cacao in Miyazaki. AKASAKA FARM inherits agricultural history and local resources. Pioneer Pork works on grazing pigs. The things they grow and the methods of farming are all different. However, what they all have in common is the desire to deliver not only the agricultural products themselves, but also “what kind of place, and who is thinking and growing them.” We grow cacao in Miyazaki. ― Miyazaki cacao In Kiyotake-cho, Miyazaki-shi, we are taking on the challenge of cultivating cacao, which is still rare in Japan. Chocolate is a familiar food, but there are few opportunities to know what kind of tree cacao, which is the raw material, grows on and what kind of fruit it is born from. Cacao trees are grown while controlling temperature and humidity, flowers are pollinated one by one, and grown cacao is harvested. Furthermore, the beans are removed from the fruit, fermented and dried, and finally they become cocoa beans, which are the raw materials for chocolate. Growing cacao in Miyazaki is a series of challenges with no right answers yet. That's why at CapS, I want to convey not only the finished chocolate, but also the “plant called cacao,” which is long before it, and the difficulties and fun of growing it in Miyazaki. Together with nature, we nurture the future. ― AKASAKA farm In Tano-cho, Miyazaki-shi, we are engaged in agriculture mainly through natural cultivation without using pesticides or fertilizers during the cultivation period. The beginning was when my father tried natural cultivation in the wake of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. Vegetables that believe in the power of nature and grow in symbiosis with microorganisms, insects, and living things in the soil do not grow in the same way every year. We grow rice, potatoes, taro, carrots, radishes, citrus fruits, etc. while facing flavors that can only be created that year and season. What we value is “being able to eat with peace of mind” and “leaving the natural environment to the next generation.” Through farming experiences and dietary education, the usual “eating” becomes a slightly special time by touching the soil in the field, harvesting, and surrounding the dining table with the producers. We are aiming for such a farm. What we are growing is not just vegetables, but the future that lies beyond that. Raise pigs like pigs. ― Pioneer Pork We are herding pigs in Tano-cho, Miyazaki-shi. The origin is “pigs that grow freely are delicious.” It's a simple idea. Pigs run around, dig up dirt with their noses, bathe in mud, and rest in the shade of trees. It is important to create an environment where pigs can spend their time like pigs without restricting their actions as much as possible. The representative studied animal physiology and nutrition in college and researched pig feed. Utilizing that experience, they are blending their own feed while utilizing sweet potatoes etc. that are out of standard in Miyazaki prefecture. We are particular about selecting varieties, and we do not only follow efficiency and fattening speed, but select varieties with good meat quality for fattening. At CapS, you can actually go to the ranch and see the lives of pigs up close. Then, after getting to know the place, they eat pork. By knowing the environment they grew up in and the time spent there, the usual pork can be seen slightly differently. We want people to experience the moment when a “place to grow” and “eating” are connected. Things you can see since you go around 3 farms. Touch vegetables in the field, see how pigs live at the ranch, and walk into a house where cacao trees grow. Then, talk to producers and eat what grew in that area. What CapS wants to create is more than just a farming experience. It's a trip to encounter the scenery, time, and people's thoughts “just before eating,” which is hard to see at supermarkets and restaurants. After visiting agriculture in Miyazaki, the usual dining table looked just a little different. We want to create such a day together with all of you.
